The active shooter situation was first reported near Emory Point, close to the Emory College of Arts and Design. The university issued urgent safety alerts through social media, instructing students, staff, and visitors to follow the “Run. Hide.
Fight.” protocol. Georgia Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed a large police presence in the area. The Emory University campus is located just minutes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters.
Officials confirmed that CDC headquarters sustained gunfire during the incident, though it remains unclear if the facility or Emory University was directly targeted.
