The shooting occurred in the afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., as the two teens allegedly fired at another vehicle following a confrontation on the highway.

Authorities with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, arrested the teens in connection with the incident. Myers, from North Augusta, and Howard, from Augusta, face serious charges related to the shooting, which left two victims injured.

Details of the Shooting

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded when a driver, traveling westbound on I-20, reported being approached by a blue Tesla driven by Myers, with Howard in the passenger seat. The driver told police that Howard pointed a gun out of the Tesla’s window and fired five to six shots at the victim’s vehicle. The gray Toyota Camry driven by the victim was struck with multiple bullet holes.

The suspect vehicle, a blue Tesla, fled the scene, exiting at Belair Road (exit 194) in Columbia County. Police were able to locate the Toyota Camry, which had suffered several bullet holes, but the Tesla was not immediately found.

Injuries and Victims’ Condition

The shooting left two victims injured: one victim was shot in the ankle, and the other in the left shoulder. Both victims were taken to Doctors Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

Authorities believe the motive for the shooting was road rage, but as of now, no further details regarding what sparked the confrontation have been made available.

Charges Against Miranda Myers and Cameron Howard

Myers and Howard were arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Additionally, Howard faces an extra charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The teens are currently held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, with no bond set for the aggravated assault charges.

The suspects’ first court appearance will determine whether bond will be granted or denied. Both teens are facing serious charges that could result in significant legal consequences.

Public Reactions and Social Media Comments

The arrests of Myers and Howard, both teenagers, have sparked mixed reactions from the public. On the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, many commenters expressed concern about the young age of the suspects and the long-lasting impact of their actions.

One commenter wrote, “Man, they’re so young! They have no idea how this one act will haunt them for the rest of their lives. I’m glad they were caught, and I hope this is a lesson learned, and it stops here.

Another commenter expressed skepticism about the teens’ legal outcomes, writing, “Whoever owns the Tesla has money and will be bailing one of them, if not both, out. My guess is … their money will pay for the charges to be reduced to misdemeanors, and they’ll never really be held accountable because ‘they can’t ruin their lives.’

One user also shared their concerns about road safety, writing, “I pray every time I’m on the road for God’s safe watch and protection. My grandbabies are with me so much of the time, and these are the kind of drivers on the road with you!

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby cameras and conducting interviews to gather more details on what led to the road rage incident.
