MT. VERNON, IL – The Mt. Vernon Police Department has identified and arrested 26-year-old Jamaro J. Kemmerling in connection with an early morning shooting that occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2025, in the 600 block of S. 15th Street. Kemmerling, a resident of Mt. Vernon, has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender.
The shooting took place in the early hours of the morning, and the Mt. Vernon Police Department responded promptly to the scene.
