BLOOMINGTON, IL — A 25-year-old man, Jacob C. Stone, was arrested earlier this week in connection with a series of burglaries at three Bloomington businesses. Stone faces multiple charges, including burglary, reckless discharge of a firearm, criminal damage, and possession of a stolen firearm.

The arrest followed an investigation into a burglary at Daddios, a business located on the 500 block of North Main Street. Bloomington police officers were called to the scene on Thursday, July 3, after receiving a report of a break-in at the establishment.

The Incident at Daddios: A Break-in and Surveillance Footage

According to court documents, when police arrived at Daddios, they spoke with a man who reported that he had locked the bar the night before, but had forgotten to set the alarm. After speaking with the man, officers reviewed security footage, which provided critical information about the suspect.

The footage showed a man, later identified as Stone, wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans, and white tennis shoes. The video revealed him tampering with an ATM and breaking another machine, before also damaging a machine owned by Midwest Electronics. The machine was used to hold coins for the gaming machines, and it was broken into during the burglary.

Additionally, Stone was seen on the footage taking three iPads and a handgun. Police learned that Stone was also allegedly looking for a phone he claimed had been stolen from his car. Based on the video evidence and a description matching Stone, officers arrested him and took him to the McLean County Jail.

Other Burglaries: Mulligan’s and Fat Jack’s

As the investigation into the Daddios burglary continued, police discovered two additional burglaries at Mulligan’s and Fat Jack’s, two other local businesses in Bloomington. Surveillance footage from these two locations showed a man matching the description of the suspect in the Daddios burglary.

At Mulligan’s, Stone was allegedly caught on camera stealing credit cards that had been left by patrons earlier that day. Electronics, including more iPads, were also reportedly taken from both businesses. During the Mulligan’s burglary, Stone allegedly fired four rounds from a firearm, which police believe was the same handgun taken from Daddios. However, authorities have not yet been able to locate the firearm.

Further investigation revealed that a distinctive tattoo on the neck of the man in the Mulligan’s footage matched a tattoo on Stone’s neck, further linking him to the crime.

Charges and Arrest

Stone now faces multiple charges related to the three burglaries, including burglary, reckless discharge of a firearm, criminal damage to property, and possession of a stolen firearm. He is being held at McLean County Jail as the investigation into the incidents continues.

As of Saturday, July 5, 2025, Stone has not been granted bond. Police have not yet confirmed whether Stone has a prior criminal history or whether he is connected to any other crimes in the Bloomington area.

Community Reaction and Ongoing Investigation

The three burglaries have raised concerns within the Bloomington community, particularly regarding the escalation of crime in the area. The reckless discharge of a firearm during one of the burglaries has also heightened fears among local residents.

As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officials are urging the public to come forward with any additional information that could help in the case. Police are continuing to review additional surveillance footage from other businesses in the area, as they believe there may be more to this case than what has already been discovered.

The Bloomington Police Department has also reiterated the importance of securing personal property and being vigilant in preventing crimes like these. As more details emerge, local businesses and residents are paying closer attention to security measures to avoid becoming victims of similar crimes.

Conclusion: A Cautionary Tale and the Path Forward

The arrest of Jacob C. Stone serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by unchecked criminal behavior and the importance of swift action by law enforcement. With multiple charges now pending against him, Stone’s case highlights the ongoing challenges of maintaining safety in communities, especially when firearms are involved in burglaries and other criminal activities.

As authorities continue their investigation into the burglaries, they are working to piece together the full scope of Stone’s actions and any potential connections to other crimes in the area. The community of Bloomington is left to reflect on the damage caused by the burglaries and the importance of being vigilant in preventing further incidents.

The investigation remains ongoing, and law enforcement officials are committed to ensuring that justice is served. The case also underscores the necessity of staying informed and aware, as well as the importance of working together to keep communities safe.
